Full Version: Ya got to admit, Wentz went down in heroic fashion

To throw a TD with a torn ACL is unreal, add in that it was 4th down and the pass was threaded between two defenders for a fingertip catch inches above the ground by Jeffrey. But that ain't enough, he sets the Eagles single season TD pass record at 33, besting a record that stood for 50+ years. Oh, did I forget that propelled us to get the W and the NFC east title with three games to play, first team in league to do it. It was a helluva a way to go out.

All that said, I am sure he will come back even better and I still think this is just the beginning of the amazing shit this kid will do for us in the next decade.

That is camp fire story shit.

let another team have a heroic QB, I want a smart one. He could have slid at the 1. Was it a big play? Sure, but not even close to worth the risk. Maybe he'll learn from it.

Scrambling QB's are a ticking timebomb.

The injury likely occurred on his last step as he burst for the dive - doubt it had anything to do with the contact.

In a game where the play usually ends by some form of contact, every player is a ticking time bomb. I don't think it has to do with him being a "scrambling QB". Understanding how/why the injury occurred would go a long way to prevention.

QUOTE
a torn ACL is often not a result of contact. A recent study conducted by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum (an orthopedic surgeon and ACL researcher), found 68 ACL injuries that were classified as non-contact ACL injuries. Sometimes, it just happens.

You question Wentz's intelligence? His only issue was his age and the feeling we all had that we were invincible in our youth. It is a harsh lesson he just learned, but he is a very intelligent kid and I am sure he will learn from this and become a better and WISER QB going forward. Don't confuse his intelligence with the wisdom that experience can only bring. As I said before, if this was going to happen, better early in his career than later, both from a healing and learning perspective. I am still confident that he will return and have a career that will be filled with amazing moments and ultimately, success.

Very well spoken.

I say the Seahawks caused the ACL injury. They stripped the ball from Wentz two weeks ago as he was headed to the end zone. Against the Rams he had time to stretch the ball out and just let it cross the goal. Instead he powered into the end zone with the ball well secured.

Part of Carson's success has been his competitiveness and toughness. It is hard to tell a 235lb QB to not take on a DB at the goal line.

I fear Pbfan is correct that he will be a ticking time bomb like most other running QBs.

Agreed.

It really is as simple as each time you are hit there is a chance you get hurt. How big or small that chance is does not matter, the chance is there. Sooner or later you will get hurt if you roll the dice enough times. I hope Wentz decides that in the future it is better for the team for him to slide instead of taking unnecessary hits. I want Wentz here for the next 15 years, not 10. The less hits he takes the better.

Oh stop already! He's not a pocket passer. If he was, he wouldn't be the guy we've already grown to love.

It's a contact sport and sometimes these things happen.

It seems that you're out of practice. I believe the correct spelling is marshmallows.

I was talking about electronic dance music producers.

I think my point at this particular spot in the conversation may have been lost a little. I wasn't lamenting the nature of his ways. I was defending it.

That's a hell of a save! Only those who have been married an eternity to a good woman can come up with saves like that, rabbit in hat!

Guilty as charged. smile.gif

Besides. Everybody knows it takes an electronic dance music producer to make a really good s'more. The "marshmallows" are optional.

Too funny.

And while I'm at it (cracking myself up, that is) for really good romantic verbal sparring (you totally called it, Pila) see "My Cousin Vinny" - the scene where Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei argue about the leaky faucet in the motel room. Classic.

I married up. Numerous strata.

Sorry, I mis-quoted you on this one. Meant to quote pbfan.

Any mention of Marisa Tomei automatically takes me to the one-piece skintight suit she wore in My Cousin Vinny. That mentalphoto is for ever engraved in the vaults of my toolbox in the neuro-garage.

You really want to see Marisa Tomei let it all hang out? Then see 'The Wrestler' with Mickey Rourke where she plays a stripper. Wowza

Funny how a thread about Wentz turns into a chat about Marisa Tomei...not that there is a thing wrong with that.

I saw it. That took place in my American Hometown.

A really good movie, and not just because of Tomei (or the fact that it took place in Elizabeth, NJ). I was really struck by the scene of the autograph sessions with wrestling has-beens. That was truly depressing.

I agree with this post.

Although not a bombshell, I always thought she was beautiful.

Both of those movies. Also the one when she fell for the kid with the bad heart. Very pretty.

I honestly always thought she was as overrated as Jason Sehorn - I think it's the Brooklyn accent/attitude that a lot of guys find sexy, while I find to be completely annoying. Nice body though, and a good performance in 'My Cousin Vinny.'
