Done for the season.

Tough break. I hope Hicks does not turn out to be a Sean Lee with constant injuries.

They need Kendricks back next week.

We really missed him on that blown coverage where Thompson sleep walked for the TD. Not sure what Nadje thought he was covering on that play.

Never easy for a backup to step in mid-game and perform well. Hopefully reps as the full-time guy help. But the reality is that Goode may not even be the third LB when Kendricks gets back.

Bradham will probably move to MLB.

Kendricks on one side and then ? on the other side.

I was thinking Walker may start alongside Bradham and Kendricks. But admittedly hadn't heard anything

A sports writer mentioned that hicks might be replaced by more than one LB depending on the situation.

Someone mentioned that one of Schwartz's former veteran LBs did not make a roster this year and so might be worth a tryout.

Kendrick's play so far this year makes me feel more confident that this won't be a disaster for the D.

Having SF up next should help the replacements to adjust.

Also they expect Darby back soon.

Does anyone have the stats on how often the Eagles run a nickel package?

I was thinking about the LBer situation in light of the Hick's injury. How many plays has the defense run this season when they were in a base 4-3 defense? A LB'er usually comes off of the field when the extra CB goes in for a nickel package.

Good question. A quick search didn't provide any team specific results, but I did find this.

Nearly two-thirds of all snaps were played in the nickel defense last season, so it's about time we start referring to sets with five defensive backs as the base NFL defense.

Hicks

It’s Hicks 2nd trip to the IR in 3 seasons. He’s already Sean Lee.

And we’ve seen this schtick from Kendricks every year. He plays great for a few weeks then gets a soft tissue injury (calf again? really?) and takes 10 weeks to get back on the field (crying about snap counts the whole way).

They activated Nate Gerry from the PS last week. He should be able to fill in with the nickle package if needed. But Bradham is our only legit starter at this point.

Not to mention his similar history in college. It's unfortunate, but our reality. I wish we had been more active in pursuit of Bowman.

Short article but informative. I did not realize that the nickel was being used on more than half of the defensive snaps in the NFL.
