Here's an interesting look at cap work with regards to some potential player moves.

Name_________ Cap Number___ Dead Money___ Cut pre-June 1_ Cut post-June 1_Trade
Vinny Curry----- $9,000,000-----$15,000,000-----($6,000,000)----($6,000,000)----$1,000,000
Chase Daniel----$8,000,000----- $7,000,000----- $1,000,000----- $1,000,000----- $6,000,000
Brent Celek----- $5,000,000----- $4,000,000----- $1,000,000----- $1,000,000----- $3,000,000
Nelson Agholor- $2,557,465---- $4,941,368----- ($2,383,903)--- ($2,383,903)----$17,511
Leodis McKelvin-$3,450,000---- $250,000------- $3,200,000
Ryan Mathews--$5,000,000----- $1,000,000----- $4,000,000
M Kendricks---- $6,600,000----- $4,800,000---- $1,800,000
Jason Kelce----- $6,200,000----- $2,400,000---- $3,800,000
Connor Barwin- $8,350,000----- $600,000------- $7,750,000
DGB------------ $944,418--------$0 -------------- $944,418
Matt Tobin------ $900,000------- $50,000--------- $850,000

I was mildly surprised that Curry, Daniel, Celek and Agholor could be traded for cap savings although I doubt any of them will happen. Trade numbers on the remaining seven don't differ from the Cut pre-June 1 number.

McKelvin, Mathews, Kendricks, Barwin, DGB and Tobin would increase the cap space by $14,744,418. If they don't think Curry fits their needs they can trade him and save, assuming his contract isn't prohibitive at $7,000,000.

Don't see how cutting DGB would make sense....lots of potential and still cheap

Yup. And Celek ain't going anywhere this year. Barwin wants to stay, but for how much? Will Peters take a cut? Should he?

A cool 15.5M in savings.

Snip, snip!

Maybe Kendricks, but at that number, he's cheap.

I agree with you about Kendricks. I'd draft a mid round LB and prepare him to take over in 2018 when it is more favorable to cut Kendricks.

I'd keep Kelce and let Wiz walk but maybe the opposite would be wiser. I don't know how much Wis would get.

Ron Brooks was not listed. I think he would save 1.5mil and Mills should be fine there.

I'd cut R Matthews but monitor his recovery progress. I doubt he'll be signed by anyone during the height of the FA period. He might be worth look prior to camp. Depending on which RB the Eagles get in the draft, Matthews could be a nice addition at a much lower price and with lower expectations in snaps. They'd essentially do a RB by committee.

I'm okay with the loss of B Logan if that helps to get us a solid veteran WR and an upgrade at one CB.

$6.2 mil seems to put him right around #28-#30 for all LBs, 6th in 2017 for 4-3 OLB. Maybe Roseman can pull off a player-for-player deal to pick up a young WR or CB who can be a capable starter if there's a team with quality depth and needs a LB.

I agree with your trade thinking.

But the number I was referring to was his cap savings if cut.

Zero, I like your idea but I can't imagine Kendricks with his contract and limited role getting more than a backup CB. It probably would take something much more than a low round pick to get a starting CB better than the ones we already have, no?

Then you'd still have to replace him. That is the point Mike is making about the meger 1.5mil you save by releasing him. It will cost something similar to replace him unless you think a rookie or last year's late round pick Joe Walker or someone else on the team could do it.
