Full Version: You're in charge
Eagles Forum > Philadelphia Eagles Message Board > Philadelphia Eagles or Football Related Discussion
Fix it time. You're in charge. GM, coach ... whatever. You analyze the Eagles and decide there's no way you're competing for anything meaningful in 2016. You decide you want to keep key serviceable players, leaders who can contribute on the field despite age and cost but otherwise you want to load up for 2017 and the future. So, not necessarily a youth movement, but the infamous "restructure." What do you do?

For instance, you decide Murray shot his load in 2014 and is a waste of roster space and isn't what you want mentoring young players. Keeping him costs you $8 mil this year, cutting him costs you $13 mil. Cutting him after June 1 costs you $8 mil and in '17 saves you $4 mil.

Look at the cap numbers and make your decisions. If you restructure, resign or extend a player the number has to be market reasonable. Trades don't need to include return value.
I will postpone my decision until our HC and DC are selected.

Restructure Peters
Extend Cox
Restructure Celek
Cut Demeco
Cut Cooper
Cut Maragos
Cut Sanchez
Extend Lane Johnson

Those are likely moves though Celek may just be cut. They also will free up considerable cap room.

The extension will push money to 2017 and 2018
