Laíel Collins is set to join one of the NFLís top offensive lines.

Collins, the LSU standout who went undrafted last week, has signed with the Cowboys, Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Collinsís three-year contract is guaranteed, with Albert Breer of NFL Media reporting the deal is worth about $1.7 million.

Once widely expected to be a first-round pick, Collins instead went undrafted after Baton Rouge (La.) police said they wanted to talk to him in connection with the investigation of the murder of his ex-girlfriend and the subsequent death of her baby boy. Given the uncertainty regarding Collinsís status, NFL teams passed on selecting him in any of the seven rounds.

However, Baton Rouge police have repeatedly said Collins is not a suspect in the case. Moreover, police have said a paternity test found Collins was not the father of the deceased child, according to published reports.

Where Collins fits on a loaded Dallas offensive line remains to be seen, though right tackle and left guard seem to be the most logical spots. The Cowboys also have the luxury of not rushing Collins, and itís quite possible he could just be a swing tackle in Year One.

The league's best O-Line gets even better... congratulations Dreagon... you son of a bitch

Meh, he would have been a nice addition but the Cowboys don't scare me. Romo's back is as gimpy as Bradford's knee. We almost beat them twice last year with Sanchez at the helm and our DL kicked their ass all over the field.

Fuck the Cowboys and what will soon be a dramatically overpaid OL.

It doesn't make sense for Collins. Wouldn't he want to go to a team and have a chance to start?

He actually has a pretty good chance to start, and an excellent chance in a years time. Primarily at left gaurd, although I bet they intend him to replace Free at RT when Free's contract expires.

No state income tax is a nice bonus for someone who just got screwed out of millions.

As is a guaranteed contract just in case he is found guilty of anything.

Great move by Dallas.

Let's hope we don't do something stupid like cutting a top two guard in the NFL.

This is where a real leader plays a more active role. I think Lurie should be on top of the situation so cooler heads prevail.
