If Chippy chip chip-aroo can land AJ it would be lethal. He is the prototypical Chip Kelley received- big, physical, playmaker. With him and Mathews in, I think the hit we took by losing McCoy & Maclin would be greatly lessened.

I would have been much more excited about this 4 years ago.

yeah but look, the free agent market, especially on the offensive side of the ball, is really thin. We aren't going to land a Dez Bryant. The market for proven, but still young, WRs is non existent. We need proven players, even if they only have a couple years left, if we want to win next year.
samaroo
He's definitely an upgrade, no doubt. And it's thin out there, no doubt. That's why I'm shocked we let Mac go.

How did the Jets get Marshall for a 5th? Is his contract humungous? Why weren't we interested in him?

To be clear, we didn't let Maclin go. He chose to sign with another team.

Large contract, locker room headache, lack of production last year, too much for a 30 year old. They clearly just wanted him gone, though straight up for a 5th is pretty ridiculous.

If you want AJ but didn't want Jackson I laugh at you... same people who didn't want McCoy, wanted Gore, now no longer want Gore

He went for an extra million a year. When we have a super-surplus of money, we let him go. Would we have paid a premium to keep him? Absolutely. Would it be worth it? The Colts thought so...

I couldn't agree with you more...

Most of the time when the Eagles let someone go it's only for something piddly like an 1-2 extra million... which is fine... IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE LARGEST SURPLUS OF MONEY IN THE LEAGUE!!! WHO ARE YOU SAVING IT FOR IF NOT PRO-BOWLERS?! LET ME GUESS? A PLAYER WITH HALF THE PRODUCTION, WITH HALF THE TALENT, AT HALF THE PRICE?! THAT'S WHY YOU'LL NEVER WIN A FUCKING THING IN THIS LEAGUE!

*ahem*

But I digress... I'm starting to think Chip think he's still in college, and players are going to come here just for the opportunity to play for the great Chip Kelly. Well this isn't college fatboy, and the "talent" in this league wants to get paid. If they keep deciding talent isn't worth an extra 1-2 million than they're going to continue to get beat by more talented teams every season

How much would Johnson cost? He'd be a great fit to mentor the young guys for a year or two. He's more of a possession receiver now but wouldn't he be an upgrade in the endzone?

I think you mean the Chiefs. That's the KC Chiefs. The same team who had "0" TD's catches from their WR's last season. The same team that thought it was a good idea signing Dwayne Bowe to a $56 million contract. I am not saying Maclin doesn't have value, but if he was prepared to walk over "an extra million" or so >> see ya.

Kudos on becoming a bottom-2 poster on this board. You've earned it.

I wouldn't dare come for your most delusional poster crown... you have truly earned it... I don't know which I like best: Marcus Smith being a great 1st round pick or McCoy being a dime a dozen RB. I know D Rock prefers your Geno Smith post but that Marcus "0 Tackles" Smith is too good

Remember, McCoy also was a terrible fit here, along with the other 1300+ yard stars we've seen go, in exchange for a grand total of cap space and Kiko Alonso.

Bear in mind Riley Cooper almost had a 1000 yards receving And Foles had one of the greatest statistical seasons of any QB in NFL history. I am not sure how much stock to put into any inflated stats in Chips system.

Cooper's season was due to Maclin not being on the field, DJax being the #1 target, and Foles, having one of the best QB seasons ever, passing to him. And he didn't 'almost have 1,000 yards.' He didn't even 'almost' have 900.

As i said, inflated stats. Amazing that they all had career seasons in Chips system. It's the same system that almost has Sanchez looking like he can be an NFL starter.

At the rate Kelly is going, we'll get to see if his system can succeed with guys that other teams wouldn't even invite to camp.
