Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski has confirmed a report that free agent CB Byron Maxwell will sign with the Eagles Tuesday.
Credit Houston-based reporter Jayson Braddock for having the news first. He says it's a five-year deal worth $53M-$54M and includes $25M guaranteed. It means free agency's No. 1 corner is off the market and it's also the first step in the Eagles' rebuild of their woeful secondary. Maxwell is a physical 6-foot corner who shined while getting peppered with targets opposite Richard Sherman. The Eagles desperately needed a corner with size to match up with the likes of Dez Bryant.

Correction To $53 Million but I'll take the blame for Jimmy's mistake on the first tweet... Either way he was crazy overpaid... he's no better than Cary Williams... in fact you can quote me now that Cary will have a better season than Maxwell
