The good news in Philadelphia is that starting quarterback Nick Foles is looking good in Organized Team Activities. Backups Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley? Not so much.

Sanchez and Barkley have both been struggling, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Sanchez is ahead of Barkley on the depth chart and has been running the second-string offense, but heís been missing throws and throwing interceptions. Sanchez has only been with the Eagles for two months, so perhaps heíll get more comfortable in Chip Kellyís offense with more time, but the early returns arenít promising.

Barkley, however, may be struggling even more. Barkley is running the third-string offense and splitting reps with G.J. Kinne, a 25-year-old who has bounced around the league for a couple years but has never played in an NFL game. Itís not even clear that Barkley is ahead of Kinne in the race to become the Eaglesí third-string quarterback.

In other words, Philadelphia fans need to hope Foles stays healthy for 16 games.

Is it still too late to fit Foles with a full set of kevlar?

How many teams are okay with their #1 QB going down?

They've been hinting/saying that on Eagles 24/7 since the OTA's started.

Barkley was horrendous, even by rookie standards last year, but the thought was maybe the shoulder hindered him more than he let on. He said as much in a recent 24/7 article. Quick decisions, quick accurate passing does not seem to be out of his skill set based on college. The thought being that he would make large strides this year.

The Sanchez signing I never understood. He's a poor QB, and always has been less than average and he was horrible the last few years. IMO, a team with plenty of resources and playoff expectations has to set it's sights higher for the all important backup QB job.

Maybe they thought between the two, one of them would progress enough to be a good backup and the other a better than average #3. Early results are not reassuring but it is early.

If Kelly's such a smart coach and purported QB guru, why/how could/would he be screw this up so much? Or did he?

Anyone worrying about a backup Quarterback in June has too much time on their hands.

Foles has gone down with injury in the last two seasons... the reality of a Mark Sanchez led Eagles team are what nightmares are made of

Time will tell.

If he saw an excellent backup in Sanchez based on his play so far in the NFL, more power to him.
