It looks like Byrd and Clinton Dix are the two we need to target if we want cover types while Ward is a SS type run support guy and Pryor a little of both but not as good in coverage as Dix.

Why isn't anyone talking bout this guy as a FA for safety?
49ers probably will let him hit the market, he's fast, he hits hard, and has some swagger.

I think the Eagles still feel burned by the Dream Team making their FA profile generally for younger players. Whitner's going to be 29 by the time the season rolls around while some of these other guys are 26 - 27.

I think they need a coverage safety as coverage was more of a problem than run support. Whether is a SS, run support specialist.

I was reading that 2012 he had problems in coverage (QB rating when throwing his way was like 125) but in 2013 he got much better (QB rating dropped into 60's) so his coverage skills after last year seem pretty damn good to me. Good vet presence in backfield, played for a contender, and could fill the gap while we develop someone since there isn't much chance of finding a starter in the draft. Just saying...

I would be curious how often he was in coverage last year.

Hey, he's a real good SS, no doubt. If they feel that Wolfe or Allen or a pick (maybe Clinton-Dix or Pryor) can fill the FS need, then sure I'd get him in a second to be our SS.

I just don't think he's got FS skill for how we run our defense.

Shit, if you get Pryor in the draft and Whitmer at SS, there ain't anybody who would feel safe catching a ball over the middle or in the flat.
