Apparently the Eagles are talking to Barwin. He kind of fits the mold of versatile that the Eagles are perceived to be interested in. He's got some size, speed, athletic ability and had production a couple of years ago with 11 1/2 sacks.

Also, it's only 557 miles from Tonga to American Somoa. Sopoaga is from American Somoa and Lotulelei is from Tonga. Coincidence?

We're running a 3-4, we should be loading up on Somoans and Tongans to find a star nose tackle. Someone who's 15 years younger than Hollis Thomas, but with the same build.

Barwin is officially signed. Had 12 sacks two years ago, but only 3 last year.

They gave him a 6-year, $36M deal...although he's inevitably not going to see all of that.

Coincidence? Uh . . . no, it's geography.

I like the Barwin signing, though.

He just signed a new contract last offseason. Not knowing the details, I have to assume that to release or trade Trent would cause us a nasty cap hit. Besides . . . despite his not having played in a 3/4 . . . he's still a dam good baller. You don't just cut good players on a new contract without giving him a chance to see how he'll fit in a new scheme.

He's a good player, good soldier, and one of the few really good Eagles on that side of the ball.

Just looked at the contract, if it wasn't for the cap hit he would be gone lol

....and he's good for about 3/4 of the season.

No question he has a tendancy to wear down if over used. But would you deny he's likely the best holdover from last year's D? The only others even in consideration for that distinction would be Kendricks and Meco. And there are some vague questions about Meco fitting in a 3/4 too. You can't shit can the entire side of the ball in one year.

Barwin has some weird hair happening up there.
