After our coaching hire, I read more into the 4-3 under to get a better feel for it and thinking about how our personnel matches up with it. Mainly looking at front 7 (because that's primarily where changes will be made this is what I came up with for what our starting defense could possibly be going into the 2013 season...

Using terminology from the two articles I read here's how I would look at it

Weakside LB-Kendricks

Middle-Ryans

SAM-No clue, don't think we currently have anyone to fit this role, must hit this position in draft or FA

Weakside DE-Cole

3 Tech-Cox

1 Tech-Patterson (?)

Strongside DE- This is a stretch but possibly Jenkins, he played end in a 3-4 which is somewhat similar to this position, but with more emphasis on pass rushing, probably another position we need to hit in the draft or FA

Should be interesting to see how we approach this...

it seems that everyone is comfortable with Ryans at the MIKE.....he is better than some of the players we have had recently, but he is still a limited player. i think he gives a lot of what Trotter did when he got older. a downhill guy looking to make plays around the LOS but a liability in any sort of coverage situation

i cant believe that OCs arent going to exploit that...regularly

Good point, I'm not saying he'll be a long term solution but I think he'll be solid I til we find a replacement. We clearly have bigger needs to fill rather than MLB
