By saying that he lost his eight year battle, does that mean his death was drug related? I hope not for his family's sake.
mcnabbulous
An Eagles spokesman essentially confirmed it. There was never really any doubt, right?
nephillymike
I thought it was maybe a heart issue caused by long term effect of the drugs but I was hoping it wasn't a direct OD. A shame for the family.
TGryn
They'll eventually have autopsy results I'm sure, but sometimes those aren't released to the public. Either way, the drugs were what killed Garrett, whether directly or indirectly.

This '08 interview goes into the details of what the Reids had gone through with their older sons up to that point, it dispels the suggestion I've read on other board's comment threads that the family (and Andy particularly) was in denial about the problem and didn't do enough to help their kids:

You know, I felt the same way as that guy when I read those articles.

It was strange. Tall and awkward.

I'd like to know why Hayes did that. It seemed out of line.
mcnabbulous
I can't believe anyone actually read Marcus Hayes' article to even notice those types of things...
HOUSEoPAIN
I've never read Marcus Hayes before.....and after my first time, courtesy of you, let me jjust say.....damn you. Damn you to hell.

No problem tongue.gif . As the link says, try catching him on DN Live sometime. Dude's wires are connected a little differently.

I used to think his obvious dislike of Reid when Hayes was the DN beat writer was personal, but he's actually unpleasant to most everyone he covers. TJ Simers is the same way. I guess that equals "edgy and provocative" in modern journalism.

You forgot Hayes's run-in with one of our old friends (Bullwinkle?) from 10-12 years ago.
