QUOTE
The Eagles will open training camp July 22 at Lehigh University, when rookies, quarterbacks and veterans rehabilitating from injuries report, the team said Thursday. The remaining players report July 25, and camp breaks August 15. The Eagles previously announced that their preseason slate begins Aug. 9 at home against the Steelers. Rookies will report to Philadelphia May 11 for a three-day rookie mini-camp that begins May 12. Voluntary offseason team activities for all players begin May 22. They run May 22 to 24, May 30 to June 1 and June 4 through 7.

This is the first full offseason under the new collective bargaining agreement signed in 2011. Here are some articles on the major changes in the new CBA:

* CAP SPACE: see http://www.eaglescap.com/

According to http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...-space-by-team/ the Eagles had $11 million in cap space remaining on the 2011 cap, and the new CBA allows any (or all) of that space to be carried over without gimmicks like LTBE bonuses: see http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...-automatically/

**************** Draft ****************

* Eagles 2012 draft selections:

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/teams...adelphia-eagles

* Eagles 2012 UDFA signings:
http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/art...f0-26e07b97ed12

* In the 2012 draft, the Eagles picked in the 15th spot in the first round, then rotated down a spot through all subsequent rounds until round 6, when their pick was rotated back up to number 13 of that round (their 7th round pick will be number 14 of that round).
They also owned:
- Arizona's 2nd round pick, #46 overall (as part of the Kevin Kolb trade)
- Denver's 6th round pick, #180 overall (as part of Joe Mays trade in 2010; Broderick Bunkley was traded for Denver's 2013 6th rounder)
- Patriots' 6th round pick, #189 overall (2010 trade for LB Tracy White and Eagles' 2012 7th round pick)
Other transactions affecting the draft:
- As part of the LB Demeco Ryans trade, the Eagles exchanged 3rd round picks with Houston, so that now the Eagles have the 89th overall pick, the 26th in the third round (and Houston now has overall pick #77) . They also sent Houston Tampa Bay's 4th round pick, #99 overall (originally acquired as part of trading 2011 4th round pick #104 to Tampa Bay, Eagles also received 2011 4th round pick #116 which became LB Casey Matthews)
- As part of the OT Winston Justice trade, Colts and Eagles swapped 6th round picks so that the Eagles now own pick #161 the second pick in the sixth round and the Colts have the Eagles' original 6th round pick #176 overall.
- Eagles received the Falcons' 7th round pick in exchange for CB Asante Samuel

In summary, their picks in 2012 (as of 3/20/12) are:
1st, 2nd (ARIZ), 2nd, 3rd (HOU), 4th, 5th, 6th (Colts), 6th (DEN), 6th (NE), 7th (ATL)

* Compensatory picks: The Eagles signed nine FAs (Young, Brown, Smith, Mathis, Jenkins, Babin, Landri, Hargrove, Asomugha) and lost seven (Akers, Bradley, McGlynn, Mikell, Patterson, Rocca, Sims) during the 2011 free agency signing period, therefore will not be eligible for any compensatory picks in 2012 as they signed more free agents than they lost.
3/26/12: Confirmed, the Eagles received no compensatory picks: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d827..._headline_stack

Can we pin this most excellent treasure of information? Please.
Mr. Bonko
What is the date that franchise tags can start to be applied? I am pretty sure it is in February, but don't know the date.
Mr. Bonko
According to this, it is on 2/20.

I'll make the correction. It definitely has to be before FA opens, since teams have to know going in what guys are unrestricted and which ones are tagged.

Below is a link on training Camp dates that you might want to add to your info above:

http://articles.philly.com/2012-05-04/news...preseason-slate

Here is my question....Based on this schedule, I am assuming that the first day camp is open to the public which will be full contact and full roster will be Friday, July 27th. Agreed? This is one day earlier than last year when it was on a Saturday. If so, this is good news. Having this on a Friday will keep the crowd down a bit.

The problem is that I need to schedule this day off and the BOSSMAN requires a couple months notice for vaca.. Sure wish Eagles would get this stuff announced sooner....

Interested in any insight you Wingheads may have....

Thanks for the info. Don't have a definitive answer on what days at camp may be contact - may want to ask over at EMB's "Ask Spadaro" forum and see if he knows. Be aware that the new CBA put more restrictions on how many times teams can practice in pads:

http://www.csnphilly.com/07/25/11/Eagles-t...?blockID=543522
QUOTE
According to the new CBA, teams can practice twice per day, but the second practice must be a so-called "walkthrough" with helmets not allowed. The new CBA limits teams to four total hours of practice time, with the primary practice limited to three hours.
The CBA calls for the first three days of preseason workouts to be non-padded, with the first day presumably Wednesday devoted to physicals and meetings. So that means the first day of live work this summer (last year) will likely be Saturday.

You also may want to email or twitter Rueben Frank, https://twitter.com/#!/roobcsn , since he put together that article last year.

I know the new CBA should basically eliminate holdouts, but I still think it would be useful if you added the signing status below each of the names listed above:

E.G. - SIGNED 4 YEAR CONTRACT ON 5/11

I will see if I can collect some of the info.

Not sure if this is complete, but it is the best I could find:
