Neat, thanks. I can't believe that safety came out of a four man rush. They were dominated body and mind.

Didja note HOWARD splitting the double team of Pitts left tackle AND left guard? He pretty much blew that play up single handedly.

It wasn't too long ago that there were alot of Eagle fans calling for JJ's job. I was one who thought the game may have passed him by. I guess if he has the horses...

Didja note HOWARD splitting the double team of Pitts left tackle AND left guard? He pretty much blew that play up single handedly. It's one of those situations which teaches that stats are not the teller of the story. In that play it was Howard's effort that made the play to develop that way, and it took the other 3 rushing to ensure it. So what is relevent is the scheme, and not who got the stat for the sack, or, in this case, credit for the safety. That play breakdown is a great way to explain the "team" aspect of it. Very interesting video. And what impressed me most of all is how complicated all the pieces are, so execution is key. And I guess if you don't have the talent, strength, speed, discipline OR the smarts, it makes it damned difficult to be succesful with JJ's x's and o's. |

Great find. Thanks - you can chalk that one up to obsession. Hats off to JJ. It looks like he finally has the LBers to run his scheme to perfection. I love the speed and instincts of this group. And the DL has been a surprise. The only question I have: How is the CB situation working out? It seems Sheppard has been very quiet, on and off the field. -------------------- Stop the run, Andy!

that play with Howard splitting the double was a pathetic effort on the part of the left side of the Steelers OL. They should be ashamed of themselves.

IMVHO, that's a bullshit comment. No offense. Pittsburgh has a very good OL but JJ put his players in a position to make those plays with schemes and the progression of the game. When one side of a matchup of two good teams/players beats the other credit needs to go to the victor for preforming well; its not necessarily that the loser did poorly. Then again, you do have the propensity to bask in the dramatic so its possible you didn't mean what you wrote. -------------------- Ya gotta believe!

Not that I agree with KAL, but the stillers O-line is not very good at all. They had problems last year and it looks like its been carried into this year also. Then again, you do have the propensity to bask in the dramatic so its possible you didn't mean what you wrote. That said, Howard did a great job on that play. -------------------- QUOTE(McPhila @ Jan 17 2007, 07:31 PM) Eckel. WIP. VMan. These things all have one thing in common. |

I'm not hating on Howard or trying to diminish that it was a good play but the left tackle and guard blew that one. Two starting Oline men should be able to keep a second stringer from just blowing right in between them off the snap. It was a horrible play by them. Worthlisberger hadn't even finished his third step and Howard was already all up in his grill. -------------------- Worst players in football: 1. Roy Williams (the safety) 2. Lito Sheppard 3. the stillers O-line is not very good at all. Particularly when pass blocking...they seem to be better suited for run blocking. QUOTE That said, Howard did a great job on that play. Agreed....he did look good on that play. -------------------- Do you know what my favorite part of the game is?.....The opportunity to play. |
