You don't need it to be a full-blown rupture to be unable to walk. I've had pulls that rival tennis-ball sized knots for the first 24-hours where any kind of weight bearing is intolerable. Then almost nothing after 48-hours and back on the pitch in 2 weeks.

The point here is to say that having to take a cart after the injury is not a reliable indicator of how serious an injury might be.

Let's hope it's nothing too serious, because we're shallow enough at OLB as it is.

So... it turns out he's a serious pussy... but after amassing a massive total of zero tackles last season him being a pussy was pretty well established

Right?

I'd love to see RF & GQ call him a pussy to his face.

Me thinks the real pussy would be easily evident in short order.

if you took the time to read and understand I said it sounded like more than a tweak which is why he was carted off...the facy that he is having an MRI on it also indicates it is not just a tweak..

Who mentioned a rupture?

If you pulled a hamstring and were back on the field 48 hours later then you didn't pull a hamstring...you had a cramp...A pulled hamstring does not just vanish...unless you are wolverine.....and you just might be...lol

The first time I did it it took months to go away....stretched the hell out of it....trainers stretched it....they nag like crazy...of the injuries I have had playing sports they suck the most....

They can linger, especially if you keep returning prematurely.

No pull is ever the same, clearly severity is a matter of degree. I'm not talking about a cramp though - cramps can usually be massaged out within a short time of the injury, although soreness can linger.

My chronic nagging headaches are my calfs. Always the first to cramp. I play ball with ex-professional players and all of them tell me the likely reason is because my lower legs are compensating for weak hamstrings. Gotta hit the hamstring curl more often if I want to be Wolverine - being hairy is not enough.

calf cramps are brutal...like spears thrust in to the muscle......I have never had calf pulls but cramps there have been some of the worse pain I have ever had...right up there with cracked ribs.....ironically I never had a calf issue on the field......but after games occasionally...you may have identified the issue for me....

these days it is the knees.....after a few hours of basketball, especially on outdoor courts, the knees get angry with me...

Aging sucks, but its only cure is to die young.

Alternatively, though - consider losing weight. To play hard-surface impact sports at our age and limit knee issues, we need to be at or near 8th grade weight levels... from the girl's team. Lol

And a Chip smoothie mainly consisting of Tebow Juice or anti-inflammatories, whichever is over-the-counter, may help until you get there.

The worst episode of cramping was in my early 20's.

We played in a 4th of July weekend softball tournament and we lost the first game of the double elimination tournament so we got in the loser's bracket and had to keep on playing. In one day, , the second day of the tournament, we played five games in a row in the loser's bracket on a sunny 90 degree July day and got all the way to the championship and lost to the team coming out of the winners bracket who had three hours of rest. I don't know if you guys remember those orange dot "rapid flight" balls they used for a while back in the early-mid 80's before lawsuits banned them (the opposite effect of restricted flight balls that you see nowadays),but these things flew off the bats and I played almost every inning either at SS, LCF or P and had to run all over the place while in the OF, chasing the juiced balls. (This was before the juiced bats came out, thank God). That night, I go home, shower, eat and then go out to gather with the guys on our team for more than a few cold ones, and I squatted down to change an album on the stereo (sorry kids, Google it!) and my one hammie cramped up. Then I stood up and my other hammie did the same. I go outside and then my calf cramps up. I'm laying on the ground, rolling around in pain and people thought I was having an epileptic fit or something. Those few minutes of cramping seemed like an eternity.

Nowadays, sometimes I fell a strain in the elbow if I do too many 12 oz curls while sitting down watching a game. But I've come to realize if I drink fast, the remaining fewer ounces in the bottle is a lot less stressful on the elbow!!

hahahaha...I know how you feel.......my worst one was not even on the field....when I was 18 I flew to Italy to spend 2 weeks in Rome....up late...fly out early...virtually no sleep...land and our hotel is not ready yet so we run around to kill time.....at this point I am going on 2 hours sleep over about 48 hours.......Finally get into the room...crash on the bed face first....and both calfves cramp up bad at the same time......the maids heard me yell...they came to see what was wrong because i was cursing so much...lol....felt like 2 spears in my calves...lol

Don't worry about looking sick. Strengthen your lower body and get to about low 200s . Then call me and tell me how you feel.

I used to be able to consume some 8K calories and not put on an ounce on. Those days are over.

6'4 174 lbs... tall skinny beanstalk I am.

I grew 12 inches in a year and the growing pains from that is a pain I won't ever forget. I used to row on the river and actually pulled my calf doing it, have to say that it was insanely annoying but not as painful as those growing pains.

6'4 174 lbs... tall skinny beanstalk I am.

I grew 12 inches in a year and the growing pains from that is a pain I won't ever forget. I used to row on the river and actually pulled my calf doing it, have to say that it was insanely annoying but not as painful as those growing pains.

Holy Shit...174?

Years ago i was up around 240 and I hit the gym hard but changed my routine to circuit training ....I dropped to 198 and folks thought i was dying.....lol...I could never get to 175......I think I will take Pila's advice and see what 210 feels like though....Not hard to get there with a little work...

Growth spurts are not fun...been there...not nearly as extreme as yours....damn...that must have been a bitch for you....

I 2nd the growing pains experience.

I was 6'3" 185 at 16, having grown 8-10 inches in my 15th year. The growing pains were brutal.

I spent my adult life trying to put on weight, but never got above 190 until I hit 40, when my metabolism essentially shut down. I'm maintaining 190 now in my mid 40s and have no orthopedic problems, but my wind is for shit.
