I'm not overly disappointed that there's a change. I kept having the feeling that the players weren't prepared and there were too many of them were regressing instead of improving. I'm amazed that Kelly didn't address the OL for two years knowing that he had aging starters and weak backups. It hurt that he let both DJax and Mathis go without getting anything in return and disappointing that he didn't address WR in FA last year knowing that Maclin was leaving.

Still, I would have given him another year as coach and hired a reputable GM. But then something seems to have been going on that we don't know about.

I picked 1.

Regarding 2: He wasn't going for that even if it was offered, which it wasn't.

Regarding 3: Why? And no, the "it was his first year" line is bullshit and doesn't work.

The thing that disappoints me most --- and it is a big thing --- is that Lurie, after unloading Chipper, didn't decide to bring in an experienced NFL executive to be the GM, run the team and name the new head coach.

It's back to the day before it was decided to bring Chipper here. Three businessmen --- not football guys --- making football decisions.

Looking forward to more of the same in 2016!

This team will never win a Super Bowl, NEVER!!!

Seriously considered #1, but went with #2 although there was no way he'd have accepted that offer if Lurie had made it. And interestingly, it wasn't on offer from Lurie.

I picked 3. Giving up on a unique coaching talent is no smarter than Chip giving up on unique on the field talent. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I thought you weren't in favour of someone having both the GM and HC roles?

I'm not, but that was the mess we were in and I didn't see a way to solve it and retain Chip. I wanted to retain Chip.

I don't think his personnel decisions were so awful that it was worth losing him as a coach.

Good move.

The guy just isn't an NFL head coach. He would probably make a good OC somewhere, maybe we'll get to see that after he fails at his next head coaching gig in the league.

But what if he didn't take responsibility for those moves and was deflective of blame?

Would that have been reason for you to pull the plug?

I don't know. The whole premise seems like they're all children.

Kelly said things in pressers here and there that bothered me a little, however when he played the semantics game about not being the GM, I lost it.

Yeah, I have no doubt that string of verbal diarrhea contributed greatly to Lurie finally having enough. What an arrogant turd.

again...(god give me strength) I agree with you....(ugh...it does not get any easier)...his comments at the presser shirking responsibility bothered me.....he lied about pushing for control and then peddled off responsibility.....

Terrible move...

Without knowing the facts, what if Howie (the new defacto GM) still had some authority?
