And so it begins. mad.gif

One of the reasons why this year was the year.

Maybe Jeff can give him an attractive enough raise. Unlike Jim Johnson, I think Schwartz has the desire to be a head coach.

Defensive minded HC's seem to be out of favor in the NFL.

Maybe that is less of an issue when you have a veteran QB.

Maybe it is less of an issue for a really bad team that wants the D coach to build the D, then after a few years they'll bring in an offensive minded coach to build the O. Maybe that is what Jax and the Rams have done.

Coaches want rings too. He has built something here. He's had the opportunity to be a HC. There might be enough remaining next year to keep him around for the ride.

If Schwartz heads up the turnpike for the HC job then it is likely that Spags will be looking for a job, and I could see the birds snatch him up...he would be a good DC for the particular group of players we have on D. Not to mention that I think Schwartz is a good DC, but not so much a HC, and that could bode well for us if the Gnats continue to stink.

I want NO, NONE, ZERO, parts of Spags.

His defenses have struggled.

Nice guy, has history here, but no thanks.

His defenses made the 18-0 Patriots 18-1 en route to a Super Bowl win.

Ya think maybe his struggling Ds had some talent deficiencies? Schwartz looked real good this year because he had play makers on the field, most of which will be back next year. But regardless of what they do if he leaves, I have to suspect they already have a short list of potential DCs, and I would think the way this team is set up, a lot of guys would love to come here.

Football Outsiders has their D rated 28th this year, 2nd last year and 30 th the year before.

While in STL, his defenses were pitiful.

No thanks.
