Two pieces of good news.

Jernigan is the first of the guys we need to keep. Jeffrey, Bradham, Allen and Burton are the others I'd like to see extended.

And now the Cowboys will be without their star RB for key games, including our trip to Dallas. Thank gods he didn't take the ban earlier in the season!

Yeah but now the boys have an excuse if things go south, hell without him make a Falcon win that much more likely.

Who cares about their excuses, fuck em. We lost Sproles and Peters, in the NFL it's always next man up no matter the circumstances.

As for Jernigan he came out and earned that paycheck. He plays every down like he's hungry. Let that boy eat.

Hopefully he'll stay hungry for Ws.

It will be really interesting to analyze the deal, especially the cap implications. By doing it this year, I bet they restructured this year so he eats up more of the Eagles' remaining 2017 cap space. That could help the cap next year while J Peters' 9 mil or so is still cutting into the cap.

He'll miss at least 4 games. His next hearing is December 1.

The money seems high.

Too much money dedicated to the DL

Even if I was going to do it, I think I would have waited.

I like him as a player, but unsure at that price given his history of not putting forth consistent effort. I'd want to see his effort for a few more months.

Mike, I'm shocked to see you write that. NFL salary money is almost meaningless until you see how it is laid out over the years and in contrast to the dead money if released.

For example, T Smith got a 2 year deal, but in the second year the Eagles could cut him with no dead money. It is hard to imagine that the Eagles would pay him $5 mil next year unless A Jeffrey walks. I'd expect an increase in reps for Agholor, Hollins and speedster, B Gibson, to be just as productive in the passing game.

In a couple of days we will get the details about Jernigan on sporttrac and elsewhere. I suspect some of the cap hit is almost "free $" because it is coming out of unused cap $ for this year.

Of course it is not free $ for J Lurie, and so, again, we are really fortunate to have him as the owner in our city!

I bet they feel Jernigan's attitude will be better because he really likes the system he is working in. The team is a contender and because they have good team leadership for motivating guys.

D Line is important to Schwartz's system. It allows them to be successful with lower priced players behind them. That certainly will be true next year among the CBs. All of them may be under the rookie contract unless they decide to extend Darby.

Howie has his work cut out for him again next year with very few high draft picks and so many expiring contracts. He catches a break with $18 mil in dead money coming off the books, esp C Daniel and S Bradford.
